Abstract

Music not only serves as entertainment, but also as an important medium of communication and emotional expression for humans. This study aims to examine the representation of emotional recovery symbolism in the song Membasuh by Hindia and Rara Sekar through an analysis of the lyrics and musical elements in the context of contemporary folk music. The method used is a qualitative approach with content analysis, which allows for an in-depth exploration of the narrative meaning of the lyrics and their relationship with musical elements such as harmony, tempo, and vocals. The results of the study show that the metaphor ‘Membasuh’ functions as a symbol of inner cleansing, reinforced by simple musical arrangements and an intimate atmosphere. In conclusion, ‘Membasuh’ represents emotional recovery through the synergy between narrative and music, while affirming the function of folk music as a medium for reflection and psychological healing.
